About Bette
As a movement coach, I help people re-learn how to move naturally and with ease to alleviate pain.
During my years of intense physical activity as a professional ballet dancer with the American Ballet Theater, it was no surprise I would experience pain and severe fatigue. What was really shocking though, was that the pain and fatigue did not go away when I retired!
Despite being physically fit, flexible, and reducing the intensity of my activities I was still experiencing daily physical pain.
Fortunately I found a technique that perfectly addressed my chronic pain and stiffness.
The Alexander Technique (AT) showed me how to recondition my alignment to be more ease-fully upright. I was able to identify and correct poor postural habits and inefficient muscular patterns.
These changes led to a reduction in pain and relief of chronic stiffness, tension and stress.
The Alexander Technique changed my life, so I dedicated myself to helping others the way it helped me. My goal is to continue to pass on what I have learned from 20 years of working with students in the performing arts and in their daily lives. Whether you are a chronic pain sufferer, a professional athlete or performer, or fall somewhere in between, learning how to approach movement in a more easeful way, will help you perform better, reduce pain, and give you a powerful means for self-care.
